WIRELESS CHARGING TECHNOLOGY

Technology is making life easier day by day with its new inventions and discoveries.
We are pondering over
Wireless Charging Technology which is quiet new and amazing. Lets know about it..

Wireless Charging or Inductive Charging uses an electromagnetic field to transfer energy between the two objects.  Coils of wire in the charging plate (transmitter coil) create a magnetic field as current passes through it. The field can induce an electrical current in the adjacent coil of wire (reciever coil) without actually touching it. If this wire is a part of battery charging circuit then, you have wireless charging.

Today, smartphones and smartphone accessories have wireless charging capabilities built in. And the technology is being integrated into all sort of devices, appliances, public spaces, and even vehicles as companies look to make power cords obsolete.
Some smartphones that support wireless charging -
Google Nexus 6
Samsung Galaxy S7
Microsoft Lumia 920

This technology too has its pros and cons –
Pros :
• More durable (as there is less wear   & tear).
• Protected connections (as all electronics are enclosed).
Cons :
• Les efficient (about 60%-70%).
• Inconvenience ( In most cases the device to be charged must be placed on charging pad)

Scientists are working to have more advancements in this technology. Some newer approaches tends to reduce transfer loss through the use of ultra thin coils, higher frequencies and optimized drive electronics.

In the up coming years, we can expect to have charging systems which can charge devices meters apart just like we use internet through Wi-Fi routers today !! :-D
