Artificial Intelligence : The Intelligent Machines
Can machines be intelligent, learn from their mistakes ??
Yes, Machines can be intelligent and can learn from their mistakes too !! The machine learning technology is known as Artificial Intelligence.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is intelligence exhibited by machines that is, a computer, a computer controlled robot or a software that thinks intelligently as an intelligent human thinks.
As machines become increasingly capable, machine facilities once thought to require intelligence are removed from the definition of AI for example, optical character recognition is no longer perceived as an exemplar of AI. Capabilities currently classified as AI include successfully understanding human speech, competing at a high level in strategic game systems (such as Chess and Go), self-driving cars, and interpreting complex data.
The various techniques that AI uses are Natural language processing, Speech and face recognition, Reinforcement learning, Visual perception etc. For more info on these techniques you can simply Google the keywords.
The best projects exhibiting Artificial Intelligence till now :
Well, it is an very efficient and useful app but is not getting much attention as per its capabilities.
Google developed a vitual personal assistant in May,2016 The Google Assistant. It is able to search the Internet, schedule events and alarms, adjust hardware settings on the user's device, and show information from the user's Google account. Google has also announced that the Assistant will be able to identify objects and gather visual information through the device's camera, and support purchasing products and send money. In other words, Google assistant can do everything you can expect from your own human personal assistant except physical works.

AlphaGo is a computer program developed by Google DeepMind in London to play the board game Go.
Go is considered much more difficult for computers to win than other games such as chess, because its much larger branching factor makes it prohibitively difficult to use traditional AI methods
In October 2015, AlphaGo became the first Computer Go program to beat a professional human Go player on a full-sized 19×19 board. In March 2016, it beat Lee Sedol in a five-game match, the first time a computer Go program has beaten a professional.
AlphaGo's algorithm uses a Monte Carlo tree search to find its moves based on knowledge previously "learned" by machine learning, specifically by an artificial neural network (a deep learning method) by extensive training, both from human and computer play.

The Google’s self-driving car project is now Waymo.
Waymo is now an independent company under Google’s parent company Alphabet Inc. which targets to build softwares and techniques for fully automated cars. In 2015, the project completed its first driverless ride giving ride to a sole blind man in Austin Texas.
In recent news, Honda is in talks over self driving cars with Waymo. Soon you may experience travelling in a driverless car if everything goes correct.

While going through such article a common question arises “Will the intelligent machines replace humans?”
In my view, YES there will be a considerable decrease in no. of jobs and increase in no. of intelligent machines replacing humans at workplaces where human intelligence was required. But, total replacement is impossible.
However, a theory suggests that soon Artificial Intelligence will bypass human intelligence, posing a big question mark on Artificial intelligence.
If somehow, :-| AI bypasses human intelligence it will become difficult for humans to control machines !!
Not to forget possibilities too are immense when AI is combined with other technologies like Internet Of Things, 3D printing, etc.
