Dynamic Wireless Powered Vehicles : A Step ahead from Wireless Charging Vehicles

In metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, etc. the major concern these days is Air Pollution. Govt. needs to take some harsh decisions to maintain the pollution level below a certain level so that air the remains suitable for living beings. A better example of such decision could be the Odd-Even rule in Delhi to overcome the enormously grown pollution due to firecrackers in Diwali and emissions from vehicles.

Our project "Dynamic Wireless Powered Vehicle" is an effort to overcome air pollution in densely populated areas and make the vehicle experience more comfortable.
Project uses the simple concept of induction to power dynamically the cars running on roads

Project Description :

Coils made of copper are placed beneath the track at fixed distances throughout the track connected in series and fed an AC supply.
As per the power requirement of the vehicle a coil is placed in the vehicle which experiences a changing magnetic field due the AC supply in the coils present beneath the track. this way power required for the  car is generated.

The calculations associated are :

    Ecar = EMF required in the vehicle's coil
     φ = magnetic flux
B = magnetic field
N 1 = no. of turns in coils within the track
N 2 = no. of turn in coil in the vehicle
r1 = radius of coils within the track
r2 = radius of coil in the vehicle

Now,
Ecar = - N2

Ecar  = - N2

Asumming Bmax = (μ0I) / (2r1)

Ecar = - N2 (d (μ0Iπr2^2/2r1)) / dt
Ecar  = - (N1N2 μ0 πr2^2 / 2r1) .

Practical Implementation :

This project will be most efficient in densely populated areas. However, it needs huge initial investment but, it worths.
The vehicle manufacturers need to make changes in vehicle design. And from manufacturers view, for  better results hybrid vehicles can be good move.

The Road Transport Authority should have power houses of its own as Indian Railways is having. These power houses should rely on renewable energy resources like solar energy, wind energy, gravitational energy, etc as per convenience and availability.
Advantages after practical implementation :
1. ZERO emission from vehicles.
2. Hassless and easier vehicle experience.
3. In context of India, drivers can be forced to be in discipline as power will only be available on tracks.
4. Reduced accidents as power will automatically reduce as vehicle goes off track.

Future advancements :

In future, the same concept can be used for all the electricity requirements in road transport system like traffic lights, roadside lights, indicators, etc. If it happens, energy can be made available anywhere without wires running from pole to pole.

In simple words,
One time big investment will surely make the roadways environment friendly, less complex, comfortable  and safer !!

However, there are some points that need to be considered before practical implementation
1. Effect of magnetic field on living beings and other gadgets.
2. Rigorous testing for any other drawbacks and their removal.
